lyrics

Andy smiles when he greets you.
He wears a blue shirt and name badge.
It says ‘Hi, my name is Andrew’.

He gets to work on time.
Fills prescriptions up ’til nine.
Says his yes sir, yes sir, no sirs.

Diazepam to cloud the rain.
A little something for their pain.
Whatever gets ’em though the day.

If they could only see the faces,
Illuminated by the stages,
That he dreams of patiently.

‘Cause Andy also works the weekend,
Armed with his band's itinerary.
Prescribing song with his dad’s old Telecaster.
Strikes a chord, releasing misery.

Six strings on fire ‘till ten.
In fifteen he’s back again.
Final call he leaves the stage.

Back to the motel or the car.
The misery doesn’t get him far,
Just back to work on Monday.

For another week of dealing,
Just from a counter, legally.
The real high is his dad’s old Telecaster.
Hits the strings and it sounds like misery.

Another bar, another sermon,
For all the drunks that paid to see.
Andy’s truth and his dad’s old Telecaster.
Turns it up and it’s preachin’ misery.

Andy’s dreaming all he can,
But he’s back where he began.
Singing yes sir, yes sir, no sir.

Weekend’s gone before it came.
Feeds the misery just the same.
Whatever gets him through the day.

about

David Schaak Brisbane, Australia

“I love it when music can boil down to the basics. Raw, gritty and full of heart this song comes from the darker reaches of the heart.”
- Nkechi Anele, Triple J

David Schaak loves nothing more than great lyrics, loud guitars and old technology. His music captures the Southern Rock spirit; simple songs about the human condition, played by a good old rock and roll band.
